Parish People's Awards

The Parish People’s Awards are given annually to people or organisations to recognise their work in the community of Binfield, or who make environmental achievements or in some other way contribute to the life of the Parish. Anyone can nominate their friends, co-workers or suppliers of good service to receive an award and Councillors then consider and decide the award winners for any year. The awards are given at the Annual Parish Meeting which is held in March/April at the Memorial Hall.

Nomination forms are encouraged from January in any year with a closing date towards the end of February. They can also be requested from the Parish Office staff or downloaded from the Documents section of this website.

We hope these awards will raise the profile of some of the excellent work being done for the people of Binfield. Please use them to thank those that have made a positive contribution in your life!

Here is the worthy winner of the 2009 award - Cissy Allwright - picture with the Chairman of the Parish Council, Cllr Mrs Amanda McLean. Friends nominated Cissy for her service to the community. She works tirelessly for many groups including the Alzheimers Society, Royal British Legion, Tea Club and also in many unseen ways to help friends who need help or a friendly ear.

It will soon be time to think about filling in a nomination form for next year's awards.  Take some time to think about those around you and think whether they would be a worthy recipient. 

 

Grants

Binfield Parish Council budgets a fund of money each year from which it awards grants. These are grants of money to support organisations in the parish that are of benefit to some or all of our residents. Opportunities occur twice a year, at the Council meetings in January and July, and leading up to these meetings application forms can be sent in to the Clerk. These forms request information about the applicant and the purpose for which the money is requested. Of particular interest to Councillors is an idea of the number of Binfield residents to benefit from the requested funds.

Forms are available from the Parish Office by post, or email. A form is also available from our Documents section of this website.  The closing date for submission of applications for the next opportunity to apply for a grant is 8 January 2010.
